The virtual-first approach to healthcare that some hospitals and health systems are taking is helping to reshape how patients receive care. But many provider organizations have yet to embrace a virtual-first approach, eschewing a telemedicine front door for traditional, in-person care first.
Once the COVID-19 pandemic struck, the health system needed to be able to treat the surge of patients with urgentcare needs virtually so they could keep them safely at home and away from the overwhelmed emergency care system.
